Traveling Tails & Ragamuffin Rescue
We Need Your Help This Kitten Season...
Kitten Season is a the period between March & October when feline reproduction increases exponentially. This is mainly due to stray cats going into heat as winter ends and the weather gets warmer.
Help us care for pregnant mamas & newborn kittens by donating:
Become a Foster!
Because we are an entirely foster-based rescue, we rely on our volunteers to continue to bring animals out of abusive, endangering, and neglectful situations to their forever homes.
If you are interested, you can click here to learn more about fostering with us!
If you are looking to adopt a dog and are open to a foster-to-adopt option:
We pull puppies and dogs off of euthanasia lists at other shelters that are at maximum capacity. Please fill out a foster application here and let us know what size, ages, and breeds you’re open to and we can facilitate the rescue!
Adoption Fees
Shelters and rescue organizations always charge an adoption fee. Our organization is entirely funded by donations.
We can accept cash, checks, or e-payments via Petstablished.

Our Mission
Rescue animals from abusive, endangering, and neglectful situations.
Stop animal abuse by keeping the public informed of these dangerous situations, the ongoing stray issue in the Four Corners Region, and how to help.
Provide necessary veterinary care to these animals.
Promote the importance of spaying/neutering animals.
Place rescue animals into permanent adoptive homes.
Build and maintain a network of other animal rescue groups.
We are headquartered in Upstate New York, but we collaborate with other animal lovers in the Northeast and across the United States.
Traveling Tails & Ragamuffin Rescue is dedicated in honor of
Mary Holstein
Mary Holstein
"Mary has and continues to be a wonderful mentor and inspiration to me. From my infancy on, she has instilled upon me a deep love and compassion for all animals. From rescue dogs and cats, to horses, to bird sanctuaries and wild animal preservations, Mary has an understanding and connection to animals big and small. Our trips and vacations as children always included some sort of volunteering or educational adventure with animals, and my first introduction to the rez dogs out west was at fourteen, where the highlight of our two week trip was three days of volunteering at the largest animal rescue in the country. Thank you, Mary, for building my foundation and love for these animals. I hope to continue to learn from you and share this passion with others."
