Fostering with Traveling Tails & Ragamuffin Rescue

We are an entirely foster-based rescue, we rely on the generosity of animal lovers in upstate New York temporarily opening their hearts and homes for cats and dogs looking for their new families.

Foster family eligibility

Fosters must be 18+ years of age.
Fosters must complete NYS required training within 60 days of approval.
Fosters must fill in and submit weekly care log.
Fosters must fill in and submit regular behavior assessments.

Frequently asked questions

What about vet care?

The rescue is responsible for scheduling and paying for all vet care related costs. We work with some amazing local partner veterinarians. Ideally, foster families can take their foster pets to their appointments but we do have dedicated transport volunteers who can help pets get to the vet.

What about non-medical supplies?

We offer a starter kit of non-consumable supplies (litter boxes, toys, etc.) based on the current volume of our donations. Fosters are generally responsible for providing continued food and litter, but when we have consumables in donations we spread them around.
